Rural escapade
This collection incorporates the effortless beauty of the natural, undisrupted countryside which has been transformed into sophisticated evening wear, targeted for women to refresh their ‘roots’ for city life. Rich fabrics drape into wide pleats leaving the embroidered layers flowing from the body combining exciting new colours and allowing them to 'pop' out of the dark sparkle of deep backgrounds.
The colour palette combines toned-down colours from the earthy inspiration, with shimmering maroons, deep navy, and a mixture of pale green, pink and blue. A velvet touch gives a show glitz feel alongside the sheer organza and matte like fine suede. Digital embroidery compliments the colour, with smooth satin stitch highlighting the scattered patterns. This differs to the laser cut lace overlaying fabrics giving the collection a delicate layered aesthetic with a modern twist on traditional lace.

Primary photos providing key inspiration; silhouetted pattern, bobbly lines, laced grids and clusters of ferns.

Fine line drawings on tissue paper created a key motif developed through the project into stitch.

Sketch book developments with fine line drawings inspired from ground roots in botanical gardens.
There is a technical theme through the project incorporating digital embroidery on Wilcom and 6 needle embroidery machines.

Final piece

Final piece. Experimenting with scale and suggestions for a skirt edge.
The following images are of the finished collection. Each contain combinations of pieces that could be worn along side one another.

Through out the project I was considering the time of each method for the production in industry and trying to keep it as time efficient as possible as well as practical for fashion garments. This includes the choices of materials, the intensity and detail of pattern and methods used.
