Texture inspired interiors

This project explored the design principles for an interior collection. It includes experimental pieces adapting surface textures and developments within fabrics. Manipulation through the use of puff binders and crashing brought the materials to have an instant change within the way they appeared, moved and felt. By focusing on using a variety of materials the project has a wide variety of effects, textures and aesthetics, for example incorporating the use of florescent yarn.

Sketch book mark making is an abstract way of starting to explore pattern, using found objects to create textures with black ink. This enabled me to focus on the shapes and patterns, as well as the textures made on each stroke of ink.

Further sketch book development with ink and mark making.

Textures, colours and pattern.

This piece was transferring (visually) patterns and themes from my drawings.

After sketch book development and initial experiments with a variety of fabrics and methods the combinations of colours and techniques are thought through. For this project considerations for the fabric applications was suitable, for example what the fabric would be used for within interiors.

Final Pieces.

This final sample board was portraying the use of reflective yarn. (This photo was takes with the flash on to high light the reflective element of the yarn).

These developmentso consider what fabric combinations worked well and perhaps what didn't to put together a sample collection. It allowed experimentation to drive the development of pieces and samples to the next level and create a diverse range of textures and new techniques.
